Here is the calendar for teen events connected with the library's Teen Summer Reading Program. You may sign up for the program at any library branch. You need not sign up to attend the events listed below. The March Teen Library Program is Game Night! Come with your friends and choose from a selection of games including Monopoly, Life, Worst Case Scenario and more! As always, snacks will be served.

Danville March 26th 6-7 P.M.

By the way the Danville program was moved from Tuesday the 27th to Monday the 26th due to the fact that the librarian will be out of town on the 27th!

I've recently discovered a whole new phenomenon -- WIZARD ROCK! I already knew about Harry and the Potters, a punk rock band all of whose songs are about Harry Potter, but now I have discovered that there are over 100+ such bands. Final Harry Potter Book Publication Date Announced!

February Teen Programs

In February, each branch will have a teen CD Share and T-Shirt Decorating Party. Teens should bring CD's to listen to and a T-shirt to decorate. Fabric paints will be available for the T-shirts and examples of how to cut and style T-shirts will also be given. The programs will be at the following branches and times:

Gambier: Tuesday, February 13th, 6-7 P.M.

Fredericktown: Tuesday, February 20th, 6-7 P.M.

Danville: Tuesday, February 27th, 6-7 P.M.

Do you need a suggestion for a good book? Look on the left sidebar of this blog for book covers from my collection at LibraryThing. Click on the title of the book located directly under the cover for more information about the book. You can also see my whole collection of recommended books for teens by clicking on the "my library" link here or on the sidebar. When you look at the whole collection you will see the tags I have used to describe the books, such as "drama" or "fantasy". You can also see how many stars I've given the book. Click on one of the tags, such as "suspense," and you will see all of the books I have described that way. Book Review - "The Book Thief"

"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is the story of a young foster child girl in Nazi Germany. Her real parents had been sought out as communists. The story is narrated by death, and apparently death is an elegant speaker. See World War II through the eyes of death as he follows this extraordinary girl who learns to have both a passion and hate for the magic of words.

If you would like to check out this book, ask your local librarian, who can get it or put it on reserve for you!

Title of Final Harry Potter Announced!

The final installment in the Harry Potter Series will be titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

If you want to play the game on Rowlings' website to find the title yourself, here a few hints. Click on the pink eraser. Click on the farthest doorknob reflected in the mirror. Click on the center of the large door next to the mirror. Click on the top of the mirror. Click on any two spiderwebs next to the big door. Click on the second chime to the right in the window. Use the key the chime turns into to open the big door. Click on the present. Click there again, and play hangman to discover the title. Good Luck!

Book Review

Twilight, by Stephanie Meyers.

When Bella moves across country from sunny Phoenix to a small wet town in Washington state, she can't help but be mesmerized by the strange pale boy, Edward Cullen and his family. The Cullens are all adopted, but share the same pale, yet exquisite good looks. Bella wonders how a group of unrelated people could all be so beautiful and so different. The Cullens socialize only with each other. Imagine Bella's surprise when she finds Edward is assigned the seat next to hers in science class. And what's with his behavior, sometimes tense and angry, and at others, inexplicably polite. November Young Adult Programs

This means that you bring a dessert to share with the group and so does everyone else, which results in lots of yummy food for all of us! Also, if you'd like, bring books that you'd like to tell the group about and anyone who wants to can be videotaped reviewing their book(s). (The videotaping and book-sharing are optional.) Tell all of your friends! All of the programs are from 6 to 7 P.M. at the following locations and times.
